BALL, MARY SMITH--We regret to report the death of Mrs. John Ball which occurred at the famiy home west of Gravette Sunday March 22, 1917 following several days of sickness from measles and oher complications. Mary Smith, daughter of W.G. Smith, who formerly lived ner Gravette, was born Jan 2, 1881 in Russell County, KY. She moved to Arkansas in 1899; was converted and united with the Methodist church at an early age and lived a consistent Christian life. She was married to J.M. Ball on Feb 10, 1901. To this union were born two children, who with the husband. survive. Mrs. Ball was a cousin of the Stokes family of this place. Rev. R.L. Jackson conducted the funeral Tuesday afternoon and burial was in the Dow cemetery. The News Herald joins with the many friends ad neighbors in offering condolences to the bereaved family.
