Bill joined the Marine Corps. In 1939 and was commissioned a 2nd Lt. In combat on Guadalcanal receiving his first Purple Heart. He saw action in Korea where he received a second Purple Heart and a Bronze Star for Valor. He volunteered for combat in Vietnam serving at Chu Lai. From 1953-1955, he was the Assistant Naval Attache in Madrid, Spain. From 1960-1963 he was an advisor to the Republic of Korea Marine Corps. Bill retired from the Marine Corps in 1969 at Treasure Island, San Francisco, and retired for the second time from Motorola 18 years later.
His profound Catholic faith inspired his long years of dedicated service to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
