DANBURY - Mr. David Clyde Priddy, 89, died Friday, March 31, 2006, at Village Care of King. He was born in Stokes County to Noah David and Lula Mae Oakley Priddy. He was taught the value of hard work, honesty and integrity while being with his parents at their family store, N.D. Priddy's Grocery, a place he always regarded with affection. He learned to hunt in his early childhood and enjoyed it well into his late 80s, as well as being an all-around outdoorsman. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a sharpshooter. He retired from DuPont with 33 years service. Above all, his first priority was to his God and Pleasant View Primitive Baptist Church, where he was a member. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, David A. Priddy Sr. and C. Michael Priddy; two sisters, Ennis P. Smith and Jean P. Hedrick; and three brothers, Paul J. Priddy, Claude A. Priddy and J. Elwood Priddy. He was an honorable husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He leaves behind his loving companion and wife of 40 years, Clara Dunlap Priddy of the home; two daughters, Angela P. (Jeff) Hicks of King and Charlotte P. (Carl) Betts of Kenley; four granddaughters, two grandsons, three great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law Rachel D.Priddy of Winston-Salem; and two sisters, Lena P. Brann of Winston-Salem and Pat P. Neill of Greensboro. Published in Winston-Salem Journal on April 2, 2006 (edited)
