Agnes Butler/Butter was born about 1524, and died about 1580. In 1541 she and Henry Sherman were married in Dedham, Essex. They reportedly had seven sons and no daughters. She is my 12th great grandmother.

The following was written by Ken Smith. "Agnes was born about 1515, probably in Dedham or Colechester, Essex, England. Her parents were probably Robert Perpoynt and his wife. She married Henry Sherman about 1539, probably in Dedham. He had moved to Dedham and became a clothier. Henry and Agnes had seven children, probably all born in Dedham. Agnes was the mother of all of Henry's known children. Agnes, wife of Henry Sherman, died in October 1580, and was buried in the churchyard of St. Mary the Virgin Church in Dedham on October 14.

Some claim that Agnes' last name was Butter, but it has been shown to be untrue. It is much more likely that she was a Perpoynt.

Information from NEHGR, Vol. 54:152, 76:293 & 166:256; Sherman Family Genealogy by T. T. Sherman, June 1920, found in LDS Library, Salt Lake City, Utah"
