Robert was born in Springer, NM and after a lifetime of wandering the world with the United States Air Force, settled back in his hometown of Springer. Robert's travels took him to England, Thailand, Korea, Turkey, Vietnam, California, Texas, Massachusetts, Arizona, and Maine. In England he met his wife and their son was born, Jose Roberto Abeyta, Jr. When Robert retired from the Air Force, he tried his hand at being a cowboy. Sitting on a stubborn horse wasn't for Robert, but his love of nature and the outdoors never left him. He made unique New Mexican furniture.
