Mr. Retherford proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. He worked as a truck driver for Loy Concrete in Plainfield for 15 years, retiring in 1980.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Delpah Mae (Smoot) Retherford and his second wife, Agnes Helen (Ward) Park Retherford; stepson, Bud Smoot; stepdaughter, Katie Hale; brother, Howard Retherford; sister, Ethel Kolback.
Survivors include his stepdaughter, Maxine (Park) Grass of Mooresville; sister, Jewel Miller; several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
Funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 16, 2010, in the Carlisle & Son Funeral Chapel, Mooresville, with calling there from 10 a.m. Rev. Terry Crist will officiate. Entombment will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield.
