Mary M. Griffeth Hyde was born July 17, 1862 at Hyde Park, Utah. She was the daughter of Patison and Elizabeth Griffeth. She married Austin C. Hyde on February 12, 1880.
They moved form Utah to Wyoming, homesteading in Auburn. while there eleven children were born to them, eight of whom are still living.
From 1892 to 1900 Mrs Hyde was President of the Primary in the Auburn Ward. In 1906 she was put in President of the Relief Society which office she held for several years.
Mr and Mrs Hyde moved to Rupert in 1919, where they have lived until the time of their death.
Funeral rites for Mary M. Griffeth Hyde, 82, who died November 29 at her home in Rupert were held Saturday at the Minidoka Stake Tabernacle, and she was buried in the Rupert cemetery beside the body of her husband, Austin C. Hyde, who preceded her in death Mar. 18, 1941. Funeral arrangements were in charge of the Goodwam Mortuary, with Bishop A. L. May dedicating the grave.
Bisshop Carl George of eden, a life long friend of the Hyde family, and President J.M. Toone were speakers at the funeral services. Music was provided by a mixed quartet singing "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere", a solo "I Am A Pilgrim by Mrs Arwa Anderson, Vocal Solo, "Goin Home" by Floretta HumpherysPrayer of invocation was offered by L.R. Humpherys and Charles N. Campbell of the Stake Presidency pronounced the Benediction.The beautiful floral tributes were in charge of granddaughters and great granddaughters of the deceased and pall bearers were her grandsons: Orlo Hyde, Ronald Hyde, Gerald Hyde, Doyle Hale, Glen Hale, and Austin Harrison.
The surviving sons and daughters include Rosel P. Hyde, David G. Hyde, Dr Laron D. Hyde and Milton D. Hyde, all of Rupert; Mrs Mae H. Jensen, Afton Wyo. Mrs Amy Harrison, Rupert, Mrs Marinda Wilde, Ogden, Utah and Mrs Cora Sorenson of Pocatello.
Her descendants munber 33, and include 49 grandchildren 71 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
