REV. R. T. WARE RITES TUESDAY.

WELL-KNOWN LOCAL METHODIST MINISTER DIES SUNDAY.

Funeral services for the Rev. R. T. Ware, 68, chaplain at Shreveport Charity Hospital for the past 10 years and founder and former pastor of Park Avenue Methodist Church, will be held Tuesday at 10 a. m. at the church. Officiating will be the Rev. F. M. Freeman, pastor of the Noel Memorial Methodist Church, the Rev. W. O. Lynch, superintendent of the Shreveport district of the Louisiana Methodist conference, and the Rev. A. W. Townsend, Jr., pastor of Mangum Memorial Methodist Church. Interment will be in Greenwood cemetery under direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home.

The body will lie instate at the Park Avenue Methodist Church from 8 a.m. Tuesday until hour for services.

Rev. Mr. Ware died at his home at 3516 West College street Sunday morning following a brief illness.

Active pallbearers will be Walter Daniels, Harry Lowery, J. E. Channell, W. C. O'Bannon, John King, J. H. Brown, Leo Ellison and L. C. Brewer.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the board of stewards of Park Avenue Methodist Church and members of the Shreveport Ministerial Association.

BEGAN MINISTRY IN 1912.

Rev. Mr. Ware had been in the Methodist ministry since 1912 and had been in the ministry in north Louisiana since 1916, when he came from Mississippi to Noble, La., and pastor of the Noble Methodist Church and Belmont Methodist Church. Between that time and 1925 he served Methodist pastorates in Mooringsport and Vivian.

He came to Shreveport in 1925 as pastor of the old Texas Avenue Methodist Church and later founded and built the present Park Avenue Methodist church. He was pastor at Park Avenue until he became chaplain at Charity Hospital 10 years ago.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Melissie Maddox Ware; four sons, G. G. Ware, F. F. Ware and G. M. Ware of Shreveport and G. O. Ware of Shirley, Ark.; two daughters, Mrs. Chester Weidman of San Antonio, Texas and Mrs. William H. Mathis of Shreveport; a sister, Mrs. L. McAlpin of Magee, Miss.; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
