George Ferdinand Madl was born at Eudora, Kansas, Feburary 7, 1900;was baptized at Eudora in Holy Family Church on Mercy 18, 1900. He was the eighth child of eleven born to John and M9llie Madl, who with their camily migrated to St. Paul, Kansas on February 14,1906.
George enter the Passionist Prep College at Cincinnati, Ohio on Augus 4, 1916. He made his Religious Profession of Vows in this same Religious Order at Louisville, Kentucky on April 1, 1918 at which time he was given the name and title to be born through life; Ferdinand of th Sorrowful Virgin.
Father Ferdinand was ordained to the Holy Priesthood at St. Paul, Kansas on February 1, 1925 by A. J. Schwertner the Bishop of Wichita and sang his First Solemn Mass in St. Francis Church at St. Paul, Kansas on February 2, 1925. Rev. Ferdinand Madl, C.P. returned to St. Paul to celebrate his Silver Jubilee Mass in St. Francis Church on February 1, 1950.
On April 1, 1968, he observed the occasion of being a Passionist Peligiour for 50 years.
