G. Weaklend
Funeral services for George P. Weaklend of Osceola, will be held Friday. June 23. Rev. Roy Ives will conduct the 1:00 p.m. service from the Webster-Kale Funeral Home in Osceola. Weaklend died Tuesday. June 20.
George P. Weaklend. 84, was born in Osceola, Iowa October 2, 1893, the son of Stephen and Martha Haltom Weaklend. He attended the Clarke County Schools and November 13, 1913 was united in marriage to Viva Reese in Woodburn, Iowa. Nine children were born to this union.
Surviving are one son and four daughters, Robert Weaklend and wife, Marie of Glidden, Iowa, Lois Chumbley of Milo, Iowa; Betty Chumbley and husband, Gerald of Pleasantville, Iowa; Georgia Atherton and husband, Finley of Woodburn, Iowa and Phyllis Gaffey and husband, Bruce of Prole, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; two brothers: Walter Weaklend of Fairfield, Iowa and Richard Weaklend of Creston, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Viva in 1961; two daughters, Marguerite Savage and Mildred Derringer; two sons, John P. Weaklend and Melvyn Weaklend; three sisters; two brothers, five half brothers and two half sisters.
Interment will be in Bethel Chapel Cemetery.
