Mrs Cuthbert Hetherington – Death came with startling suddenness to Mrs Cuthbert Hetherington of Springfield early this morning, Thurs July 19th, after an illness of only a few hours duration. Mrs Hetherington, who was in her 69th year, was a well-known and highly respected resident of this district, having lived practically her entire life in Glen Meyer until her removal to Springfield when Mr Hetherington retired from farming. Mrs Hetherington, who before her marriage was Sarah Meharg, was born at Glen Meyer on the Meharg homestead, and was a daughter of the late Mr & Mrs John Meharg. She afterwards was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to Cuthbert Hetherington, and leaves to mourn her loss besides a sorrowing husband, one son and two daughters: Clarence Hetherington of Brownsville; Mrs GF Williams and Mrs Murray Abbott of Langton; also 6 brothers and one sister: Alfred Meharg of Dunbar Wisconsin; Charles and Nicholas Meharg of Yale, Michigan; John Meharg of Port Burwell; Robert and Whitfield Meharg of Glen Meyer; and Mrs George Whitesell of Tillsonburg. Mrs Hetherington was a member of the United Church and took a deep interest in the work of its various organizations, and as a neighbour was loved by all who knew her for her kindly interest and sympathy. The funeral will be held on Saturday pm, service at the home at 2, interment in the Tillsonburg Cemetery.
Sympathy of the entire community is extended to Mrs Murray Abbott and Mrs Grover Williams in the death of their mother, Mrs Hetherington who passed away at her home in Springfield on Thursday last. – 26 July 1934
