Cuthbert Hetherington died at his home on East Street, Springfield, early Monday morning in his 88th year. Born in Walsingham Tp he was the son of the late Cuthbert and Amanda Hetherington. He learned as a young man the blacksmith trade, and operated a farm and blacksmith shop in Glen Meyer until he returned to Springfield 20 years ago. He married Sarah Meharg of Houghton in 1891, and she predeceased him 20 years ago. He was a member of St John's United Church, Springfield. He is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs Nellie Williams of Aylmer, and Mrs Murray (Mary) Abbott of Glen Meyer; one son Clarence of Brownsville; one brother John of Norwich; one sister Mrs Amelia Bauer of Courtland, 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Remains rested at the Shaw Funeral Home, Springfield where a private service was held on Wednesday at 2:30 pm followed by a public service at St John's United Church at 3 pm. Rev George A Shields was in charge. Interment was in Tillsonburg Cemetery
