Wife of William Thomas Maddy. Daughter of Lewis McCammy Duckworth and Nancy Ellen Shore. Lettie's name appears on the headstone with her husband in the Zion Cemetery but she is buried in the Eternal Hills Cemetery in Oceanside, California.

Lettie Rebecca Duckworth was born October 20, 1883 in Russell. She was united in marriage October 20, 1901 to William Thomas Maddy. To this union were born three children, Carl L., Merle, and Esther Ellen.

In 1911 she was converted and shortly after was united with the Brethren in Christ Church in Tulare, Calif. The greater part of her life, however, was spent in Iowa. Her husband preceded her in death in 1932. The past 11 years she resided in Vista, Calif. The last five years she experienced failing health.

She departed this life Dec. 25, 1972. She is survived by her three children, one granddaughter, Mrs. Patricia Mordecai,two grandsons, Ted and Tim Mordecai, one sister, Mrs. Grace Whittlesey and a brother, George Duckworth, both of Chariton and a brother, Roy Duckworth of Batavia, N.Y., and a host of friends and many nieces and nephews.

Mother Maddy was a loving mother, a loyal wife and a devoted Christian. Her passing is our loss but Heavens gain.

Interment was in Eternal Hills Cemetery, Oceanside, Calif. The Rev. Paul E. Wingerd of Altadena, Calif. officiated at the service.
