Carmie E. Matthews Lambeth
1917 - 2016

Early Life: Carmie was born in November 5, 1917, in Pine Creek, Missouri, to Rueben "Rube" Matthews and Gladys Crismon Matthews, the oldest of four children. She graduated from Plato High School in 1935 as the Valedictorian of her class. She attended college in Springfield, Missouri, receiving her teaching certificate and taught school first thru eighth grade in a one-room schoolhouse, first in Missouri and later, in California. At age 12, Carmie accepted Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior in 1930 at the Cedar Bluff Baptist Church.
Life's Work/Service/Interests: In 1941, she married Russell Lambeth and to that union was born a daughter and a son. They all moved to California after World War II and were Charter members of Hill Top Chapel near Miramonte, California, attending church there for many years. She later moved to Montana to be near her daughter and her grandchildren. She was a member of Florence Baptist Church and was faithful until her death. Carmie was always a "go-getter "and had many hobbies which she enjoyed and excelled at including but was not limited to: sewing, needle work, crocheting, knitting, quilting, oil painting, drawing and wood carving; also, she loved to fish with her husband. All these hobbies left little time for work which included helping her husband replace the cedar shake roof on their home, building masonry rock walls, even a little cement work. Nothing was too much for her. She enjoyed a wonderful childhood, a wonderful marriage, she always said life was worthwhile and interesting with many blessings despite the losses. Carmie Evelyn Matthews Lambeth entered into the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at the age of 98.
