Hilgar A. Maher of Shawnee died September 24, 1989, at the home. He was born in Brumley, Mo., and lived in this area most of his life.
Mr. Maher was a tile setter for the Home of Tile for 25 years, retiring in 1974. He was a member of the Shawnee Park Christian Church. He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II. He attended the University of Kansas.
Survivors include his wife, Opal Maher of the home; a daughter, Marilyn Kernohan, Clinton, Mo.; two half-brothers, Gene Maher, Erie, Kan., and Glen Williams , Eldon, Mo.; two half-sisters, Genevieve Phillips, Erie, and Dorothy Arnold, Jefferson City; and three grandchildren. Burial was in the Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens Cemetery.
