Mr. Barna enlisted in the US Army, Infantry Division in February 1936, the following year representing the US Army at the Texas Centennial at Fair Park in Dallas. After he was discharged from the Army, in 1939 he enlisted in the US Air Force, stationed at Randolph Field in San Antonio. He served in World War II and the Korean War, assigned to the 27th Fighter Wing. After retiring in June 1966, he worked at Texas Dept of Public Safety and, later, the University of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents Joe Barna and Julia Bokter Barna Molnar; wife Geraldine Skaggs Barna; daughter Carolyn Schaefer and son-in-law Andy Schaefer; brothers Michael Molnar, Joe Molnar, John Molnar, Lou Molnar, Stephen Molnar, Frank Molnar, and Gene Molnar; sisters Sophie Tokay [memorial # 60245326] and Marge Houser. He is survived by two daughters; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and three sisters [note: sister, Judy (Julia Ann) Wiktorowski died in 2010, is memorial # 46854263]. A memorial service was held at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, Austin, on Saturday, December 27, 2008.
