Doris Cleta Henderson was born on December 13, 1925 in Huntington, West Virginia to Emmett George Henderson and Ethel McMahan Henderson. She was the fifth out of six children born to Emmett and Ethel. She grew up in Huntington where she met her husband,Raymond Francis Johndrow,while he was on leave from the Navy. They married on March 4, 1943. They were blessed with five children: Raymond Francis Jr. (Butch), Sheila Karleen, James Michael, David Lee, and Sharon Kay. Raymond moved the family to Massachusetts, where his family was living, and then to Florida. During these times, Doris was a housewife, caring for all of the children. After Ray died in 1995, Doris stayed in Florida for awhile but eventually moved in with her daughter, Sheila in Pennsylvania. Doris died on December 23, 2009, ten days after her 84th birthday.
