Born December 25, 1916 in Huron, Tennessee, Mayrene Waters passed away peacefully on September 17, 2013. A long time resident of Murray, Kentucky, she resided most recently at Emeritus of Murray. The daughter of Lonnie H. and Eva McCarter Rogers, "Mae" had seven brothers and sisters: Otis, Wilbur, and Gilbert, all deceased, Nadine Garner and Lavelle Page of Tennessee, Sue Blankenship of Virginia, and Lloyd Rogers of Fulton, Kentucky.

Mae moved with her husband, Neal Walker, from Tennessee to Plymouth, Michigan in 1952, where she worked at Burroughs Corporation, Kroger Stores, and Michigan Bell Telephone Company. After Neal passed away, it was at Michigan Bell that she met and married Sidney Waters, a native of Murray, Kentucky. Upon their retirement Mae and Sid moved to Lakeland, Florida in 1974. After 14 years in Lakeland they decided to return to Sid's hometown in Murray, where Mae has resided since 1987.

In November 1997 Mae lost her husband Sid, and ten days later, in December lost daughter Jeanne, of Lansing Michigan, from breast cancer. However, until just recently, Mae continued to reside in her home on South 9th Street and enjoyed her membership at the Grace Baptist Church.

The pride of Mae's life has always been her three grandchildren: David Brandon, who lives with his wife, Shareé in Lubbock, Texas, and their two sons, Drew and Jared; Dana Balan, who lives with her partner David Michaelson in Sebastopol, California; and Susie Breaugh of San Jose, California.

Throughout her life, Mae has always exemplified her Baptist belief through her generosity, her faith, and her caring for others. She will be remembered as a wonderful Grandmother, loving sister, and great friend.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 21, 2013 in the chapel of the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Rev. Sammy Cunningham will officiate with burial to follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 Friday, September 20, 2013 at the funeral home.
