Edwin Backhaus, 45, town Rhine farmer, died Friday morning at 4:45 o'clock in the Sheboygan Memorial hospital, following an operation performed on Sunday.
He was born April 30, 1895, in Kiel, son of William and Pauline (Dawurske) Backhaus. In 1907 he moved to the farm in town Rhine and had resided there since.
Survivors are his widow, the former Esther Feldmann, of Elkhart Lake; his father, William, this city, and one sister, Mrs. Edwin Jaschob, of near Millhome. His mother died on Dec. 27, 1935.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Meiselwitz
