Mrs. Cooksey died early this morning at Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo. She had been a resident of Borger for the past 30 years.
Survivors include two sons, John P. Brooks of Phillips, Thomas Brooks, of Dumas; seven daughters, Virgie Brooks of Dallas, Mrs. Dale Standridge of Oklahoma City, Okla., Mrs. L.L. Irvin of Harlingen, Mrs. Carl York of Oxnard, Calif., Mrs. Leo Reaves of Porterville, Calif., Mrs. Floyd Simpson of Marysville, Calif., Mrs. H.M. Darden of Jasper; three brothers, Brady Hearn of Bountiful, Utah, Ed and Quitman Hearn of Fordyce, Ark.; two sisters, Mrs. Ann Surpetz and Mrs. Onie Peters, both of Fordyce, Ark.; 23 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Emily I. Cooksey, the former Mrs. J.C. Brooks, 81, of 906 Parkway, will be at 2 p.m. Friday from Ed Brown & Sons Chapel of the Fountains with the Rev. G.W. Fine, pastor of the East Side Baptist Church, officiating.
Interment will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Ed Brown & Sons Funeral Directors.
