Note:
Her tombstone in Riverside Cemetery, Kennedy NY, gives all the dates and locations of her birth, marriage, and death. Her husband's stone is next to hers. These stones are much newer than 1845 (date of her husband's death) and match exactly. Apparently the graves were moved from a cemetery in Ellington near their farm, and new stones placed - by whom and when is unknown
The names of her parents are speculative. William Galloway and Margaret Oliver, both of North Rutland, MA, were married 19 Mar, 1753, in Petersham MA. They later owned property in Barre, at what is now Cook's Canyon Audubon Sanctuary. The stream at Cook's Canyon is called Galloway Brook. Margaret Galloway, widow, is listed as a property owner on the tax roles of Conway MA from 1780 to 1791, when she is crossed off. Whatever property she owned is modest, her assessment ranging from a high of 1 pound, 11 shillings to a low of 3 shillings, 15 pence. The marriage of Sally Galloway and John Woodward is recorded in the Vital Records of Conway. Since Margaret Galloway is the only Galloway listed on the tax roles, it is assumed she was Sally's mother. Since Sally was born in Barre
Sally was b. Barre, Mass., married 05 Mar 1786 in Conway, Mass. & died in Ellington NY as per grave inscription & published records.
