Lora Lee Knippers Dunkin, 81, of Oklahoma City, died Friday, February 5, 2010, at Bellevue Nursing Center after a lengthy illness.
Lora Lee was a daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. Christopher Columbus Knippers. She was born March 31, 1928, in Detroit, Michigan. She graduated high school at Hattiesburg, Mississippi and college at Bethany Peniel College. She obtained two masters degrees: Masters of Library Science and a Masters in Counseling from the University of Central Oklahoma.

Lora Lee served as an elementary school teacher and librarian in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, Director of Children's Ministry at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene in Bethany, Oklahoma, Assistant Librarian at Southern Nazarene University, and Head Teacher at the Home of Redeeming Love for Putnam City Schools for 20 years.

She loved her church, serving as pianist, S.S. teacher and volunteering in so many ways. Her generous spirit enabled her to reach out to all in need.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Survivors include her beloved husband, James, of the home; daughter Debbie and son-in-law Steve Smith of Perry, daughter Donna Mohling of Fredericksburg, Virginia, son Jim C. Dunkin and daughter-in-law Leslie of Salisbury, North Carolina; six grandchildren: Lucas (and Janet) and Taylor Smith, Amanda Flowers (and Ryan) of Fredericksburg, Blake Mohling of Prattville, Alabama, Matthew and Christina Dunkin of Salisbury, North Carolina; and two great-grandchildren, Charis and Chad Flowers of Fredericksburg.

The family wishes to thank the excellent staff at Bellevue Nursing Center for their quality compassionate care.

The family will greet visitors Monday, February 8, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Mercer-Adams. Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 9, 2:00 p.m. at Bethany First Nazarene Church, with pastors Dr. Jim C. Dunkin and the Rev. Steve Smith officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Central Oklahoma; 3555 NW 58th St., Ste 220, OKC, OK 73112.
