Tade Nelson, 68, of 2828 West 20th Street, collapsed and died suddenly about 7 p.m. yesterday while vacationing at his summer home near Dixon, Mo. He had been in poor health for two years.

Mr. Nelson retired three years ago as custodian at Washington school. He was a former officer in the Building Service Employees Union, Local 98.

Born near Dixon, Mo., Mr. Nelson had been a Granite City resident for 40 years. He and his wife, May, began their Missouri vacation last Friday.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Frank, of Granite City; two daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Rosetta) Elmore and Mrs. Clarence (Olive) Phelps, both of Granite City; two sisters, Mrs. Ann Robinson [sic] of Dixon, Mo., and Mrs. Emma Bell of Omaha, Neb; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are pending at a Dixon funeral home, with services and burial to be conducted there.
