[Note: I have received inquiries from researchers who think Amanda Deaderick may be Fellar Nelson's mother. She is not. There was a David Nelson who married an Amanda Deaderick in Tennessee, but they moved to Illinois. Feller's father, David Nelson, moved to Maries County, Missouri, and died there.]

Fellar Nelson was given the name Flower Nelson at birth, after his uncle Flower Light, but he later decided to go by the name Fellar. He was the son of David Nelson and David's second wife (name unknown). Fellar's mother died when he was young. After his father was accidentally killed, Fellar went to live on the Bob Ramsey farm. He married Sarah Elizabeth Sauls on November 26, 1882. Fellar and Sarah built a house near the Gasconade River, and all their children were born there. This home place later became part of the Leonard Doyle farm.

The family later moved three time; the first two moves brief, the third time to the house that later became known as the Mayfield house on Route E near Hayden, Missouri.

In their last years, Feller and Sarah lived in Granite City, Illinois, near several of their children.
