Mrs. John T. Forbis, who was identified with the dry-good and clothing business during much of the time she lived in Wellington, died in Littlefield Clinic Hospital Monday morning, February 12. She had gone there about a month ago to be with a daughter. Mrs. Forbis was 79 years of age. She came here 60 years ago from Olustee, Oklahoma, and except for a short time, Wellington has been her home since then. For many years, Mrs. Forbis worked in dry goods and ready-to-wear stores here, serving the people of this area with knowledge and graciousness. Earlier, she was associated with her husband in the operation of a store. She had a deep sense of loyalty to her work, and devotion to the many friends she made during her many years of work with the public. There was a deeper devotion to her family, to their well being, and to the training of her children. Her respect for knowledge and her encouragement helped each of them to go far in their chosen fields. She had been a member of First United Methodist Church for many years, and was a life member of the Women's Society of Christian Service, Both she and her husband devoted much time to its work. Survivors are her husband; two daughters and a son, Mrs. David Pehen of Youngstown, Ohio, Mrs, J.W. Kirby of Littlefield, and John T. Forbis, Jr. of Childress; two sisters, Mrs. P.E. McClure of Austin and Mrs. Will Henderson of Vernon; and 5 grandchildren.
