Albert Thomas Ball was born in Rockford, Illinois, May 29, 1854. He spent his early life and grew into manhood in the place of his birth.
In 1884 he left his native state and came as an early settler to Kansas, where he settled on a farm near Groveland, in McPherson county. This farm continued to be his home until the time of his death, which occurred at the age of 82 years, 2 months and 18 days.
Mr. Ball was united in marriage to Miss Johanna Helena Muenchoff on March 27, 1887.
to this union ten children were bor, six boys and four girls; Elmer Ball of Briggsdale, Colorado. ; Mrs. Frank Bane of Beebe, Ark.; Emery Ball of Plains, Kansas; Walter, Earl, Arthur and Harvey Ball and Mrs . Henry Hassman, all of McPherson; and Misses Maude and Eva Ball, who reside at the home.
Besides these children he leaves the widow, 29 grandchildren, and a niece, Mrs. Rebecca Beattie of Conway Kansas, who was to him as a sister, she having been reared in the same home with him.
Ailments common to old age forced him to cease his very active life on the farm about July 1st of this year.
had he lived until next March the children were planning a celebration of the 50th wedding anniversary of their father and mother.
The passing of this quiet but busy man brings sorrow not only to his home in which he was dearly beloved but to the whole community in which he had been a part for so many years.
obituary obtained with the help of the McPherson historical society.
