Missouri dc 6172. The Clinton Eye, Clinton, MO, Tuesday, February 26, 1963 page 2 - "Funeral services for Mrs. J. A. Conner, who resided at the farm home of her son, James O. Conner, near Johnstown, and who died Feb. 20, were held Sunday, Feb. 24, at the Johnstown Church of Christ. The Rev. Virtle Gregg, Butler, officiated. Vocalists were Phyllis Callahan, Colleen Callahan, Trent Piety and Kenneth Hill. Pallbearers were Gerald Callahan, George Callahan, Donald Dudley, Dave Dudley, Harley Midkiff and Strieby Hunt. Interment was in Johnstown Cemetery by the side of her husband with Schaberg Funeral Home in charge. Laura Jane Smith was born April 21, 1882, In McDonald County, Missouri, the daughter of John T. and Sabrina Elizabeth Henry Smith. On Dec. 4, 1904, she married James A. Conner of Anderson, Mo., in the county of her birth and they made their home near there for many years. Upon retiring from farming they lived a year at Rich Hill then in 1944 came to the farm home of the son near Johnstown. Mr. Conner had suffered a stroke from which he failed to recover and was an invalid about 11 years. He died on July 29, 1955. She was a member of the Seventh Day Church of God. Besides her son she leaves two daughters, Mrs. Goldie Lawson, Rockford, Ill., Mrs. Minnie Bigelow, Anderson, Mo.; 17 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. A daughter, Mrs. Sylvia Stillions, preceded her in death."
