Julia married, second, Frank Shubert 26 Dec. 1907. They lived on Hikes Lane on land she inherited from her father. Julia petitioned for divorce in 1921 claiming Frank had abandoned her 12 May 1913.
Julia continued to live on Hikes Lane. Her great niece, Doris Wirth Reynolds, said Julia loved her chickens and they had the run of her property including the house. In the settlement of her estate there was an item of $80.29 for poultry. Someone bought Julia's chickens. She left the bulk of her estate other than real estate to Elmhurst College, Elmhurst, IL and St. Paul's E&R Church then located at 213 E. Broadway, Louisville, as a memorial of her father and mother.
