Michael was a Gardner as was his father before him. He grew up on Preston Plant Road on 9 35/100 acres his father purchased in 1864 (Preston Highway and Hess Lane). His future wife to be lived across Preston at the corner of what is today Locust Lane. Margaret(Maggie) and Michael married 9 Jan. 1894. They probably lived on the 50 acres his father had purchased in 1891 on Hikes Lane from George a. and Mary Bell Hikes known as Foresthome. They moved back to the homeplace after the death of his father in 1900. Michael's two brothers, Conrad and Fred and sister Julia divided the 50 acres and lived there until their deaths.
Michael and Maggie had three children, Elizabeth, Joe and Edward. Maggie filed for divorce on 18 Aug. 1916. Michael married Louisa Hatzman on 18 April 1918. They sold building lots off the garden ground during the depression and today there are two streets, Wirth Ave. and Louisa Ave.
