Howard Yount, 64, member of the Columbus police force and brother of Mrs. Maggie Gnodle of Troy, died at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at his home, 167 Chittenden Avenue, Columbus, an hour after having been stricken with a heart attack.

Mr. Yount was a former conductor on the old D.& T. car line here. He was born and reared in Tipp City, and was the son of the late Harrison and Adelaide Collins Yount, receiving his education in the Tipp City schools. He was married to Dorothy Major of Middleport, who survives, 32 years ago.

Other survivors include his sisters, Mrs. Ethel Shaffer of Tipp City, Mrs. Grace Westfall of West Milton, and Mrs. Gnodle of Troy; and five brothers, Noah Yount of Tipp City, Harvey Yount of Columbus, Edward Yount of Piqua, Frank Yount of Troy, and Ralph Yount of Los Angeles, Calif. A brother, Ford Yount, died four months ago.

Funeral rites were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Harvey Davis Funeral Home, Summit and 16th Street, Columbus. Burial was in a Columbus cemetery.
