Melissa E. Adams Hampton Boyd of Fritch died April 8 in Amarillo. She was 73.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Fritch Church of Christ with Richard Kasko officiating. Interment was in the "Garden of Good Shepherd" at Westlawn Memorial Park.
Mrs. Boyd was born in Purmela and had lived in Hutchinson County for 50 years. She was a retired school cook for Sanford/Fritch High School. She was raised a Baptist and was a member of the Church of Christ at Fritch. She married Claud Hampton on June 12, 1945, and he preceded her in death in 1974. She married Raymond T. Boyd on Nov. 22, 1979. She was also preceded in death by six brothers.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond T. Boyd of Fritch; two sons, David M. Hampton of Fritch and Brad Hampton of Amarillo; one step-son, Darnell Boyd of Lometa; four daughters, Lynnette Hampton of Amarillo, Tonya Christian of Amarillo, Monte Dybedal of California and Lori Houtchens of Amarillo; one step-daughter, Genell Maxwell of Borger; four sisters, Caroline Whatley of Fritch, Genevieve Burt of Fritch, Ernestine Schrank of Aleman and Elizabeth Brown of Gatesville; 20 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
