John Frantz, a carpenter by trade, was married to Matilda M. (Flickinger) Frantz with whom he had six children, William S., Naomi A., Elmer, Irwin, Charles O. and Laura B. Frantz.

ADDENDUM

Born either in Perry or Bucks County (both are reported), he was the son of Isaac & Anna Mary (Crist) Franz. He married Matilda McClurg or McClure Flickinger in 1860 and fathered William S. (b. 05/19/61), Naomi A. (b. 02/23/63), Elmer (b. 01/13/64), Irwin Corothers (b. 04/29/66), Charles Ottis (b. 10/25/75), and Laura Belle (b. 07/08/80). In 1860, he was a carpenter presumably living somewhere in Perry County and stood 5' 10" tall with dark hair and blue eyes. He is not found in the 1860 census.

A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Harrisburg August 11, 1864, mustered into federal service there August 19 as a private with Co. A, 201st Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company June 24, 1865.
