"Leroy E. McCartney, aged 66, 42 Lisbon street, a carpenter-contractor, died suddenly Wednesday afternoon of a heart attack while at work at the Reed residence of the corner of Fairview Ave. and Fairgrounds Blvd. Mr. McCartney was born in Berlin Center, Dec. 29, 1881, a son of William and Sarah Schaeffer McCartney, and his entire life was spent in Mahoning county. On. Jan. 1, 1908, he married Miss Anna Powers. She died two years ago. Mr. McCartney was a member of the Four Mile Run Christian church. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Chester Schlegal, Mrs. Arthur Hult and Miss Joyce McCartney, all of Canfield, and Mrs. Leonard Hult of Cleveland; three sons, Ellis D. of Orlando, Fla.; Arla W. of Canfield, and Richard L. of Rochester, Pa.; twelve grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. George May of Phoenix, Ariz., and a brother, Earl E. McCartney of Youngstown. Funeral services will be held at the Williams Funeral Home at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, where friends may call Friday evening."
