Matilda Ann Brant, was born in Cumberland, Maryland, October 14, 1851 and died in Kingsley, Iowa on March 21, 1936, at the age of 84 years, 5 months, and 7 days.
In 1874 she was united in marriage to Norman Bruce VanBuskirk at Olin, Jones, Iowa, and together they came to Sac county to establish their home. This this union were born 7 children, two whom died in infancy. Those surviving are Myrt, Harvey and Ralph of Kinglsey, Clarence of Stewart, Nebraska and Earl of Newcastle, Nebraska.
In 1900 she moved from Sac county to Newcastle, Nebraska, where she resided until the death of her husband in 1926. Since that time she has lived with her son Ralph, making frequent visits to the homes of her other sons.
Besides her immediate family she leaves to mourn her death, one sister Mrs. Hattie Longhrey, in Wyoming, and James Brant, in Canada, 26 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, many other relatives and a host of friends.
She was a devoted member of the Congregational church in Newcastle, Neb. Her faith in her Master sustained her in the end and in the last hours of her life she sought and found comfort in prayer and the message of the gospel.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon of this week from teh Kinglsey Congregational church, and interment was made in the Kinglsey cemetery, beside the remains of her husband. Grandsons and grand son-in-law acted a pall bearers, and grand daughters and grand daughters-in-law as flower girls.
