Funeral Rites To Be Today For Mrs. Mary Wadsworth At Her Residence.
Passes On Tuesday
Deceased Was Taken Suddenly Ill Last Friday and Condition Was Critical
Mrs. Mary Wadsworth, resident of Wayne over forty years, passed away at her home in Wayne Tuesday evening. January 28, at 9 o'clock from effects of a stroke of apopolexy which she suffered last Friday. She was aged 82 years, 1 month and 17 days. Funeral services will be held this Thursday afternoon at the home at 2:30 with Rev. W. W. Whitman of the Methodist church, in charge. Interment will be made in Greenwood cemetary.
Mrs. Wadsworth and her daughter, Mrs. Bertha Hood, had lived together in Wayne for years. Mrs. Wadsworth was keenly interested in all lines of progress and the many changes which took place during her residence here. Her greatest happiness lay in ministry to her family and her friends, and she was able to keep busy with home duties almost to the last. She had a host of friends, among old and young, who will remember her with esteem. mrs. Wadsworth was a loving mother and a good neighbor.
Miss Mary Jane Brant was born December 11, 1847, at Cumberland, Maryland, the daughter of James and Catherine Brant. She was married August 26, 1869, at Tipton, Iowa to Freeman G. Wadsworth. The family moved to Cuming county Neb., in 1875. They came to Wayne in 1888. Mr. Wadsworth died her January 26, 1913.
Seven children, three daughters and four sons, survive Mrs. Wadsworth. They are: Mrs. Bertha Hood of Wayne, Mrs. Angie Lush of Plainview, Neb., George Wadsworth of Middlebranch, Neb. Fred Wadsworth of St. Anthony, Idaho, Paul Wadsworth of Missoula, Mont; Mrs. Alice Simonin of Lincoln, Neb, and Cash Wadsworth of Douglas, Wyo. There are fifteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Mrs. Wadsworth is survived by two sisters. Mrs. Anna Van Buskirk of Kinglsey, Iowa, and Mrs. Harriet Laughrey of Sheridan, Wyo., and one brother James Brant of Clinton, Alberta, Canada.
Cash Wadsworth, Mrs. Glee Willis Lush, Mr. and Mrs. George Wadsworth, Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Simonin and son and Milo Hood of Omaha, came Saturday to be with Mrs. Wadsworth. Paul and Fred Wadsworth were unable to come.
Deceased joined the Presbyterian church many years ago and remained a faithful member.
