MRS. MARIE NEWTON, 74, of Holy Cross, died at 4:20 a.m. on Monday, December 1, 1975, at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Overton and Rena Downs Newton. She is survived by her husband, Roy Newton; four daughters, Mrs. Cecelia Clark, Mrs. Margaret Hagan and Mrs. James Clark of Holy Cross; two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Hutchins of Holy Cross and Mrs. Charlie Clayton of Bardstown; 46 grandchildren; 93 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Rev. Patrick H. Warren conducted the service at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Cross Catholic Church with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery. Mattingly Funeral Home, where a prayer service was held at 11 p.m. Tuesday, was in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers were Freddie Hagan, Randall Hagan, Freeman Hagan, Chris Newton, Junior Clark and Jimmy Clark. They were all grandsons.
