Mary Cecilia Clark Mattingly, 89, Bardstown, died at 10:04 a.m., October 10, 2009, at her residence. Born June 25, 1920 in Holy Cross, Mattingly retired in 1980 after 18 years with Jim Beam Distillery of Clermont. She was preceded in death by: her first husband, Thomas Matellus 'Ted' Clark Sr.; her second husband, Joseph Linton 'Bunk' Mattingly; a son, Joseph Ray Clark; her parents, Charles Roy Sr. & Mary Marie Newton; two sisters, Margaret Hogan and Louise Clark; and two brothers, Junior & Jack Newton. Survivors include: eight daughters, Betty Newton of Bardstown, Ann Cissell of Campbellsville, Rita Riedel of Denver, CO, June Fleming of Peoria, AZ, Polly Lyvers of Bardstown, Marlene Clark of Lebanon, Darlene Armel of Madison, IN, and Connie Redmon of Frankfort; three sons, Frank Clark of Littleton, CO, Tom Clark of Bloomfield, and Don Clark of Bloomfield; a sister, Jane Clark of Bardstown; a brother, Harold Newton of Holy Cross; 40 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren and 39 great-great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass was held October 13, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery. Rev. R. Joseph Hemmerle officiated. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Hospice of Nelson County, 111 North 3rd St., Bardstown, KY 40004. Active pallbearers were Daniel Patrick Armel, Patrick Clark, Bill Newton, Dana Fogle, Gene Armel Jr., Chris Martin, Timmy Cissell, and Joe Mattingly. Honorary pallbearers were Corey Clark, Tod Cissell, Twyla Clark, Travis Clark, Mark Cissell, April Clark, Tessa Clark, and Tubby Clark. Mattingly Funeral Home, Loretto, was in charge of the arrangements.
