Alpha Pearl George was born in June 1923 in rural Laurel County Kentucky. She was the daughter of John Leroy "Roy" George and Ida Combs George. At the age of 20, she moved into an apartment in Cincinnati with her younger sister. Shortly thereafter, she met a handsome young Marine named Lloyd Vittitoe while he was on furlough. They married in October 1946.
Sons James, Michael, Jeffery and daughters Shirley and Lisa joined Alpha's son Henry in making a full house and a reason to move to a small farm in Northern Kentucky in 1964. Family members still reside in this home.
As the years progressed, time began taking its toll on Alpha's weary body. In May, 2009 she entered the hospital and was surrounded by family and friends until her passing.
Alpha was a woman who took pleasure in the simple things life had to offer. She loved the farm life, animals of all types, working in her garden and sitting in her rocking chair on the front porch. Her kind smile and gentle laugh will be dearly missed. She will be remembered as a small town farm girl with a big heart.
