6-1-1951 Bruning Banner:
Kenneth D. Bliss, 25, of Bruning and Mrs. Mary Soukup, about 40, of Geneva were killed early Sunday when the car in which they were riding struck a bridge at the south edge of McCool Junction.
A veteran of World War II, Bliss was employed at the Koehler Hatchery in Geneva.

Kenneth, the son of George H. and Wilhelmina, nee Kuhlmann, Bliss, was born at Bruning, Nebraska on May 27, 1926. On August 29th, of the same year he was baptized. On March 17, 1940, he was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church.
During World War II, he was inducted into the armed forces of our country on September 29, 1944 and served until November 20, 1946.
The departed is survived by his mother, Wilhelmina Bliss and sisters and brothers: Mrs. Lela Betscher of South Gate Calif., M/Sgt. George E. Bliss of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Lorna Thumann and Mrs. Wilma Mahloch of Bruning and Lee at home.
Funeral services were conducted at Trinity Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery
