Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Trinity Lutheran Church for George H. Bliss, 57, who passed away suddenly last Saturday on a train between Kansas City, Mo., and Kansas City, Kans., while enroute home from a visit with relatives in Missouri. Death was attributed to a heart attack.
Interment was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were representatives of the Brotherhood and the Fire Department.
OBITUARY: The report of the sudden passing of George H. Bliss on Saturday, October 29, was not alone shocking to his family but to his many friends and acquaintances as well. Despite the fact that the deceased was not in the best of health his condition did not indicate that his end was so near at hand.
In the passing of George Henry Bliss the immediate family has sustained a great loss and many other individuals who numbered him among their friends will miss his treasured helpfulness and companionship.
Mr. Bliss, child of Edgar E. Bliss and Katie (Robinson) Bliss, was born April 9, 1892, near Bruning, Nebraska. The greatest portion of his life he spent here in the community in which he was born. For over 25 years he rendered community service as a member of the local fire department. In later years he also was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its Brotherhood organization.
On November 27, 1917, he was united in marriage with Wilhelmina Kuhlmann. This union was blessed with six children.
The departed leaves to mourn his departure, his faithful wife, Whilhelmina; six children, Lela Betscher of Long Beach, Calif., Kenneth of Lincoln, George who at the present time is serving in the Air Force and stationed at Alexandria, Va., Lorna Thumann of Geneva, and Wilma and Lewis at home. Other survivors are his step-mother, Nettie Bliss of Rock Island, Ill.; three brothers, Ira W. Bliss, Gracen T. Bliss and Edgar E. Bliss, all of Warrensburg, Mo.; one sister, Mrs. Alva Cox of CHilhowee, Mo., and a host of distant relatives and friends.
