Mausoleum is in serious need of repair. Outside appears to be intact however the years and weather has taken its toll on the inside. Main iron gates are rusted & unlockable (secured with chain & padlock), wooden doors won't close, lock and are peeling, stained glass dome has 2 pieces missing allowing weather in, ceiling and decorative moulding is crumbing and at least 2 crypts (Charles & his wife Louise) fronts are broken & lying on the floor, exposing their caskets. It appears that the current generation of this family has no interest or respect for their ancestors as nothing has been done to keep this grand old mausoleum in any kind of repair.

Columbus, Ohio, Monday 17th, Florence Louise, daug of Charles H. Hayden. (New York, Death Newspaper Extracts, 1851-1890 (Barber Collection), New York Evening Post 1881, October).
