Interior Journal, Sept. 6, 1932: MRS. RICHARD HESTER ANSWERS CALL - A good woman and devoted mother went to her reward when Mrs. Richard Hester died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Owsley Dunn, at 11 o'clock Saturday morning age 72. she had been ill several months and for some weeks it was evident that the end was near. Previous to her marriage she was Miss Sarah Reynolds and she was born and reared in the South End of Lincoln county. Her husband died some six years ago, but the following children are left to mourn the loss of a kind and indulgent mother: Mrs. Owsley Dunn, Mrs. J.A. Freeman, this county; Mrs. C.W. Eads; Mrs. John Maxwell, Louisville; Burch Hester, this county; Virgil Hester, Frankfort. In the irreparable loss they have suffered they have the sympathy of their friends everywhere. Mrs. Hester united with the Christian church when a girl and all of her long life she has kept her faith. She was a regular attendant of the services of her church as long as her health lasted and was a willing and faithful worker in her Master's vineyard for many years. There was never a more devoted or kinder wife and mother. Her neighbors loved her because of her kind deeds and evidences of love for them and the family almost worshipped her. She will be missed as few women in her community would and her passing has cast a gloom over the section she lived in so long and where she was universally loved. Funeral services were held in the Dunn home at 2:30 Monday afternoon. Rev. Frank N. Tinder of Richmond, assisted by Rev. C.N.Barnette officiating. Burial followed in Buffalo Springs Cemetery. The pall-bearers were six of her grandsons - Wesley Hester, Elmer Earl Hester, Harold Dunn, J. Lee Freeman, Richard Freeman, William Burch Hester. These friends were honorary pall-bearers; John C. Peppies, W.H. Underwood, B.W. Givens, Jack Rout, John B. Foster, Dr. W.B. O'Bannon.
