DECATUR REVIEW 4/20/1927

Mrs.Mary M.Haines, widow of Frank W.Haines died Wednesday morning at 2 oclock in the home in which she has lived since her marriage in 1873, 462 W.William street. Her illness dated back to an attack of influenza in 1918 which left her an invalid and which was followed by two paralytic strokes, one in 1921 and the second just eight weeks ago.

Mrs.Haines was daughter of I.D. and Caroline H. Jennings and was born in Decatur July 22,1854. She lived her life in the city.

Many years ago when her husband,Frank W.Haines was the manage of the Power Opera house, Mrs.Haines was known to practically everybody n the city. Since Mr.Haines death she lived a quiet life and her circle of friends gradually narrowed. Mrs.Haines had many friends and her truly beautiful character is best described in a tribute to her by one of these: She was one of Gods gentlewomen, tireless and ever sympathic in her devotion to her family, home and friends.

She is survived by one daughter,Mrs.Frank Chapin, one son,Edwin J.Haines,a brother B.F.Jennings, and two grandchildren,Nathan Starr Haines and Seth Haines Stoner all of Decatur.

Funeral services will be conducted by Rev.Stanley McDonald, pastor of the St.Johns Episcopal church of which Mrs.Haines was a member, at the residence at 10 oclock Friday morning.
