Edwin Jennings(Eddie) Haines,67, of 462 W. William street,a member of one of Deaturs oldest families,died at 12:25, am today in St.Marys hospital where he had been under treatment since suffering a stroke,June 4.

Mr. Haines was born in Decatur Aug 24, 1875, a son of Frank W.and Mary Jennings Haines. Upon leaving high school he was employed until 1905 in the collection department of the Millikin National bank. He then became associated in the insurance business with Dr. Fred Stoner,going in 1910 to Chicago to enter the brokerage business.

In 1934 after an illness he returned to Decatur to reside with his sister, Mrs.Frank A. Chapin. Until the time of his stroke last June he was a clerk in the St.Nicholas hotel billiard room.

He leaves one son, Lieut.Comm. Nathan S.Haines,his sister Mrs.Chapin, a nephew Lieut.Seth H.Stoner and four grandchildren.

The body was taken to the Brintlinger funeral home where services probably will be held Saturday afternoon. The body will be taken to St.Louis for cremation before burial in Greenwood cemetery here. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 pm today. The family has requested that no flowers be sent.
