Mrs W.P Cobb,70,the former Addie Davis,of Appling County, who had been a
resident of Eastman the past 45 years,dies at her home here Tuesday night at 9:30 o'clock,following an extended illness. She was a daughter of the late Jonthan J. and Adeline Hall Davis, pioneer citizens of Appling County. She was widow of the late W.P Cobb,prominent Eastman businssman.Mrs Cobb had returned in June from Middle Georgia Hospital,Macon where she underwent a major operation. Her condition had been critical since that time.Mrs Cobb, was author of "History of Dodge County" and for 15 years she served as clerk to the late W,D McCranie,former County Commissioner.
For the past 14 years Mrs Cobb and her sister,Mrs Jennie Sessoms, had operated Cobb Floral Company. She was a member of the First Methodist Church, and for 49 years had been a member of the order of the eastern Star. She is a former Worthy Matron of the O.E.S She also was a member of the D.A.R,daughters of 1812,and in the 1920's Mrs Cobb was made honorary president of the U.D.C for life.Mrs Cobb was an accomplished musician and artist. At one time she conducted an art class at Eastman High School.and taught china painting.She painted many beautiful pictures and had painted a complete set of Haviland China.She also wrote the history of Dodge County.Dodge County Georgia.
