In September, 1884, Alen Bryan was united in marriage to Miss Laura Hooper. The couple moved to Graham in 1925. He preceded her in death.

She was raised in the days of reconstruction following the war between the states and watched the development of Texas history. Mrs. Bryan became a member of the Baptist Church in her early youth. After her husband's death, she made her home with a daughter, Mrs. J. Carroll McConnell in Fort Worth. She was a faithful member of the Baptist Church and a loving mother, warmly devoted to her family and friends. She read her Bible nearly every day and was a faithful Christian for nearly 75 years.

Survived by four sons - Paul Bryan, Robert H. Bryan, Lewis T. Bryan, Pat Bryan, Sr; one daughter - Mrs. J. Carroll McConnell; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
