1st Lt Peek was the pilot of "The Eager Beaver" (plane #42-29816) serving with the 401st Bomb Squadron, 91st Bomb Group - Heavy. His plane collided with another plane when leaving on the bombing mission to Germany. Crashed into the Channel.


Survived by his parents, wife and infant son.

 A/C # 797 was heavily damaged by flak, and received heavy and constant attacks from E/A, finally forcing it down into the Channel. The crew was in the water for about 30 minutes when it was picked up by the Air-Sea rescue. All crew members were safe, except for minor injuries with the exception of S/Sgt. E. Lindberg, who was drowned. The crew was composed of: Lt. B. Peek (P), Lt. F. A, Porada (CP), Lt. G. B. Williams (N), Lt. C. H. Hicks (B), T/Sgt. R. R. Thompson, S/Sgt. N. F. Swierz, T/Sgt. J. F. Osborne, S/Sgts. R. D. Hatton, E. Lindberg, W. G. Zeigler.


CASUALTIES: Due to collision following is status of personnel of A/C 816.

Dead: 1st Lt. Peek and 2nd Lt. Fuller, F/O Edwards, T/Sgt. Boggan.

Unaccounted for: 2nd Lt. Crist, T/Sgt. Payne, S/Sgts. Power, Sanschagrin and Sgt. Niebojewski.

Injured as result of bail-out from A/C 816: S/Sgt. C. E. Allen.
