Glenn Arnold Benedict, 71, of 811 Cascade St., a Wenatchee resident for the past 35 years, died in a local hospital Friday after an extended illness.

He was a veteran of World War I and World War II.

Born in Missouri June 7 1890, he enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy during World War I (under the name of William Arnold Stoner). In 1926 the family came to the Wenatchee Valley. Mr. Benedict again served in the U.S. Navy during World War II (also under the name of William Arnold Stoner), being discharged as a chief carpenters mate in 1945. He was engaged in construction until his retirement.

Surviving are his widow, Hazel; four sons, Floyd and Emmett Benedict, both of Oregon, Ralph Benedict of California and William Benedict, Tacoma; five daughters, Mrs. Jeanne Adams, Olympia, Mrs. Betty Schnecker, Pacifica, Calif., Mrs. Bonnie Sydow, Brutus, Mich., Mrs. Glenda Hill, Wenatchee, and Miss Ardith Benedict, at home; one brother, Melvin Benedict, in Iowa; and 14 grandchildren. One daughter and a brother preceded him in death.

Services will be conducted in the Colonial Chapel of the Jones & Jones Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. G. Richard Tuttle will officiate. Concluding services will follow in Wenatchee Cemetery. Arrangements are by Jones & Jones.
