WENATCHEE _ Hazel L. Benedict, 86, of Wenatchee, died Wednesday, June 29, 1994, in Central Washington Hospital.

She was born Feb. 8, 1908, to Frank and Elizabeth (Sauder) Crapsey, at Maple River, Mich. She grew up and received her early education at Brutus, Mich.

She married G.A. "Bill" Benedict on Feb. 20, 1926, at Grand Rapids, Mich. They moved to Leavenworth soon after, then later moved to the Wenatchee area where she had lived since that time.

Mrs. Benedict worked at Parkside Convalescent Center for 15 years. She later cared for elderly people in their own homes until her retirement at the age of 80. She helped raise her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren through the spring of this year.

She is survived by a son, William C. of Olympia; two daughters, Bonnie Sydow of Brutus, Mich., and Ardith Hersel of East Wenatchee; a stepdaughter, Jeanne Adams of Wenatchee; two brothers, Seward and Otto, both of Michigan; two sisters, Laura Treadwell and Mildred Lutz, both of Mich.; numerous grandchildren; several great-grandchildren including Scott [Annette] Sanders of Wenatchee, and Lori Sanders of Renton; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1961, three brothers, three daughters and two grandchildren.
