BROOKVILLE, Ind. — Edith Farmer, 84, formerly of Connersville, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at her residence in Brookville.

Born Oct. 17, 1925, in Arvel, Ky., she was the daughter of Henry and Fanny Brandenburg Mays.

On Nov. 9, 1946, in Newport, Ky., she became the bride of Clifton Farmer. She was a member of the Brookville Chapter 449 Order of the Eastern Star. She had worked at several area factories, including Sperry Rubber and Jay Garment in Brookville and at Ford Electronics in Connersville. Edith also managed the Dollar Store in Brookville.

In her leisure time she enjoyed knitting, quilting and painting.

She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and John Combs and Connie and Gary Siebert, all of Brookville, and Linda and Gordon McKee of Jamestown, Ky.; a brother and sister-in-law, Harold Cecil and Ruth Mays of McKee, Ky.; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Juanita Isaacs of Connersville, Lillian and Bill Wilder of Hamilton, Ohio, Loretta Taylor of McKee, Ky., and Ethel and Jr. Atkins of Bardstown, Ky.; six grandchildren, Tim Siebert, Tony Siebert, Kevin Combs, Cathy Robinson, Richard Farmer and Lori Farmer; four great-grandchildren, Alex Robinson, Tyler Siebert, Cole Siebert and Luke Farmer; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Funeral services will be held at Urban-Winkler Funeral Home on Monday at 10 a.m. with Dan Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville.
